New Business Park Provides Much Needed Employment Land in Swanage

The long awaited development of five acres of employment land, to be known as Prospect Business Park, Victoria Avenue, Swanage is coming to fruition. The site is being developed by Purbeck District Council with two thirds of the funding, of nearly £2 million, coming from the South West of England Regional Development Agency.

Development of site infrastructure will be complete by April 2009 when a total of five plots totalling 3 acres will be available for sale to businesses or developers who wish to develop on the site. It is expected that up to 63,500 sq ft of employment space can be accommodated on the site.

Prospect Business Park

Both Purbeck District Council and the South West Regional Development Agency are committed to delivery of a very high quality scheme, with very good to excellent environmental performance. The size of buildings planned reflects the nature of enquiries being sought by local businesses wishing to grow or expand in the town, whilst respecting the uniquely attractive setting of the site. This could provide about 150 jobs at a time when Swanage needs to diversify and develop a more robust local economy. Our investment in this facility in these pressing economic times reflects our joint commitment to invest to help achieve long-term economic success.

The site is being marketed by Sibbett Gregory one of the area’s leading commercial property consultancies. A marketing event is to be held in February 2009 when a developer pack will be available and an opportunity to come along and discuss investing in or securing a unit on the site.

If you want to discuss your business or development needs for the site now please contact either Jayne Sharman or Jonathan Sibbett at Sibbett Gregory Tel:  (01202) 661177 or Email: info@sibbettgregory.com

Councillor Gary Suttle, Leader of the Council said: “There is a strong entrepreneurial culture in Swanage, developing this land will provide the opportunity for local people to develop and expand their businesses in the town boosting the local economy and providing quality jobs.

Tony Bray, Area Director for Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole at the South West RDA said: “The South West RDA is committed to helping to attract businesses and developers to the area with the aim of improving employment opportunities”.
