Verification Number
Under Part 2 of the Local Government Act 2000
a petition may be submitted to the Council requiring a referendum
to be held on the question of whether there should be an elected
mayor for the District. The Act requires that any such
petition, to be valid, must be signed by at least 5% of the local
government electors for the District.
In accordance with Regulation 4(1) of the
above regulations the Proper Officer of the Council must publish
each year a notice of the number that is equal to 5% of the
electorate. This number is known as the “Verification
Number”.
Notice is given, therefore, that the
Verification Number for the Purbeck District for the period
1st April 2010 to 31st March 2011 has been
published by the Proper Officer and is:

This figure will have effect for the purposes
of determining the validity of Petitions presented from
1st April 2010 to 31st March 2011.
