What is the Register of Electors?
The Electoral Register is a list of names and addresses of all
residents within the Purbeck district who are entitled to
vote. There are two versions of the register;
The FULL register contains the names of
everyone in the district who is entitled to vote and can only be
used for certain purposes, such as elections, law enforcement and
credit referencing. The Full copy of the register is open to
inspection under supervision by any member of the public, but only
at the Purbeck District Council Offices, Westport House, Worgret
Road, Wareham.
The EDITED register contains the names of
everyone in the district who is entitled to vote except those who
opted out of this version of the register by ticking the
appropriate box on the registration form. This register can
be purchased by anyone and used for any purpose, such as creating
databases for direct marketing.
How to Register
If you have moved house, are coming up to 18 years of age or
you are just not included on the register it is important for you
to provide us with information so that you can be registered to
vote in future elections. To do this either use the link
below for a Voter Registration Form or contact the Electoral
Services Office on 01929 557219 or e-mail
electoralservices@purbeck-dc.gov.uk.
How the Electoral Register is Updated
The Register is updated primarily once a year during
September, October and November and is known as the annual canvass
of electors. The new register is published on 1st
December annually and can then be updated on a monthly basis.
