Homelessness Strategy

The Homelessness Act 2002 (external link) required all housing authorities to carry out a review of homelessness in their area and to use the information obtained to publish a homelessness strategy by 31st July 2003.

The legislation also required local authorities to publish a new homelessness strategy based on the results of a further homelessness review within 5 years.

This strategy is the result of that work.  However, rather than produce six individual strategies a joint strategy has been produced by the housing authorities in the Dorset County area as it was felt that as we share many of the issues identified, joint working would enable us to achieve more and avoid duplication.  The housing authorities are East, North and West Dorset, Weymouth and Portland and Purbeck.
