The Private Sector Housing Team provides a range of services to people living in rented property, home owners and those renting from residential social landlords. The Council has powers under the Housing Act to investigate the conditions of privately rented housing. We do this by identifying the hazard and assessing the risk caused by the defect using a nationally based risk assessment tool known as HHSRS. (Housing Health and Safety Rating System) We also provide a range of financial assistance to home owners and tenants to improve their property.
