Transfer Incentive Scheme
To improve the use of affordable rented stock
in the District the Council has developed a Transfer Incentive
Scheme. The aim of the scheme is to encourage tenants of
Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) who are underoccupying
to move to smaller accommodation and free up much needed family
homes.
The scheme is available to tenants of RSLs who
live in Purbeck in a property with two or more bedrooms and wish to
move to a property with less.
Any vacancy created through the scheme must be
made available to Purbeck Housing Trust who operate the Housing
Register on the Council’s behalf.
The financial incentives available include
removal costs of £2,000. This is paid to all under occupiers
who are eligible for this scheme. In addition there is a
further payment related to the number of bed spaces released,
details of which are shown in the table below:

In recognition of the fact that many people
are overwhelmed by the practicalities of moving, the Council and
Purbeck Housing Trust are also funding a Housing Solutions Officer
post. This is based at Purbeck Housing Trust’s offices.
The aim of the post is specifically to assist with moves made under
this scheme, and the help provided can include arranging removals,
ordering carpets and arranging cleaning and clearance of unwanted
furniture. Currently funding for the post is available until
the end of March 2008.
