The Council has commenced the review of the Purbeck District
Local Plan, in line with the new Planning and Compulsory Purchase
Act. The current Local Plan will be replaced by a Local
Development Framework. The Framework will be made up of a
series of documents, rather than just being one like the old Local
Plan.

The Council has prepared a Local Development Scheme, which is a
public statement of Council’s programme to deliver the Local
Development Framework. It also provides a starting point for
you to find out what our current policies are for the District, and
the programme for the replacement of these policies over the next
three years.

The following documents are (due to be) contained within the
Purbeck LDF:
In addition the Council may produce Area Action Plans
(AAP´s), Supplementary
Planning Documents (SPD´s), and other
Development Plan Documents (DPD´s).
All of these documents are subject to public consultation and
subsequent approval by Secretary of State and the Government Office
South West (
GOSW) prior to adoption,
with the exception of the Local Development Scheme (
LDS) which is not required to
go through a public comment process but must have approval from
GOSW
.
