The Purbeck Futures Conference

The Futures Conference, held on 23 September 2005, provided a unique opportunity to help shape Purbeck’s development over the next 20 years. The day was interactive and forward-looking with representatives of all parties that have an interest in Purbeck.
The current Local Plan needs revising and this conference represented the starting point to have an input into its replacement. Under the new planning system, we will be producing a Local Development Framework (LDF).

What kind of place do we want Purbeck to be in 20 years’ time?  We need to decide on a vision for the future of Purbeck which will guide the direction of the LDF. The Futures Conference provided the opportunity to develop this vision, and highlighted the key issues that may help or hinder the vision, providing a discussion on how these issues may be overcome.

The summary report (see above) from the Futures Conference led to a further report entitled “Background information on identification of issues” dated November 2005. This report in turn fed into the Issues and Options consultation in February 2006.
