Core Strategy Past Consultations

Work on the Core Strategy commenced in 2005 with the Futures Conference. This was followed by an Issues and Options leaflet in February 2006 and Stakeholder Workshops in July 2006. A Preferred Options document was published for consultation in September 2006. Since then, the Planning system has changed removing the need for a Preferred Options stage and the Proposed Changes to the Regional Spatial Strategy for the South West (RSS) were published.

The RSS proposed a substantial increase in the housing requirement for Purbeck, requiring further consultation. Consultation on the Western Extension to Poole for 2750 dwellings was held in June 2008. At the same time the more flexible planning system presented the opportunity to combine the Development Management Policies with the Core Strategy. An Issues and Options consultation was held in June 2008.
