As a result of the changes in the planning system, brought
about through the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, the
current Local Plan will be replaced by a Local Development
Framework. As part of the review process Purbeck District
Council is required to assess and evaluate the level and quality of
employment land within the District in order to create an up to
date and balanced portfolio of sites to be held within the Local
Development Framework.
In December 2004 the Government published a guidance note
setting out the stages within and the format of Employment Land
Reviews. The Council have undertaken this review in
accordance with the guidance.
This review is essentially a three stage process commencing
with a 'stock take' of existing employment sites and allocated
sites, an assessment of future needs and requirements, and finally
the identification of a portfolio of new sites. The Council
have opted to produce each stage of the review as a separate
interim report.
The Stage 1 report will outline the findings from Stage 1 of
the review, providing an overview of Purbeck’s economy, identifying
the need and demand as well as the supply of office, industrial and
warehousing premises and land in the District.
The Stage 2 Report provides an assessment of the future
requirements for employment land and premises in Purbeck, including
an analysis of the types of employment development which may be
sought in the future.
Please note that these Reviews are in
the process of being updated.
