Statement of Community Involvement
The Statement of Community Involvement sets out how and when
organisations and individuals can get involved in the preparation
of planning documents for Purbeck and in the consideration of
planning applications in Purbeck.
The Council hereby gives notice that the Statement of
Community Involvement was adopted by the Council on 25th April
2006. The SCI was adopted under delegated powers by the Head
of Community Planning and Policy, in liaison with the Council’s
Environment Spokesperson and the Council’s Head of Planning
Board.
Background
Consultation on the Submission Draft Statement of
Community
Involvement took place at the end of 2005 (ceasing on 21st
December).
The representations made were forwarded to the Planning
Inspectorate for consideration by an independent Inspector
appointed by the secretary of state. Upon the request of one
respondent, a Public Examination into the soundness of the
Statement of Community Involvement was held on 23rd March 2006. On
12th April 2006 the Inspector issued the Council with a draft
Report, which makes reference to the ‘Schedule of Modifications’
submitted by the Council upon the request of the Inspector at the
Examination. The Inspector's Report is binding on the Council and
the recommendations contained within the Report have been
incorporated into the SCI.
Copies of all the aforementioned documents can be viewed at
the District Council offices in Wareham, or by downloading them
below. The Council offices are open Monday - Thursday
(8.45am-4.45pm) and Friday (8.45am - 4.15pm). Copies are also
available for inspection at all libraries within the district,
Poole Central Library, Dorchester Library, Wareham Town Council and
Swanage Town Council offices.
