Claim what's yours - Benefit take-up campaign for working
parents

A Dorset-wide campaign is being launched to encourage working
parents to claim their benefits.
An information leaflet will be sent home with
every school pupil in Dorset to encourage parents to find out what
they are entitled to.
The campaign promotes the use of an online
calculator, which enables working parents to find out which
benefits they can claim. The benefits calculator enables an easy
check on entitlement to rent and council tax benefits.
The calculator can be found at www.dorsetforyou.com/benefitscalculator
and provides a result on likely entitlement to benefits.
Phone numbers will also be included in the
leaflet for those who wish to speak to someone about a possible
claim.
On behalf of all the councils involved, David
White chairman of The Dorset Benefit Officers Group said:
“In these tough economic times the Dorset
councils are keen to encourage people to claim any housing benefit
or council tax benefit entitlement they may have. Many people
continue to miss out on money that belongs to them.
“Even a small amount of extra help can make a
big difference, so it's really important that people claim what is
theirs."
