Information Needed For New Ticket To
Ride
Purbeck residents who are entitled to free off peak
travel on local buses nationwide from April next year are being
encouraged to complete and return the bus pass renewal information
slips being issued by the Council over the coming months as quickly
as possible.
In a national Government initiative, eligible
people will be entitled to free off peak travel on local buses
anywhere in England from 1 April 2008. In order for the scheme to
operate new bus passes that will be recognised throughout the
country will be issued.
Over the next few months Purbeck District
Council is writing to most existing concessionary bus pass holders
asking for information and a recent passport sized colour
photograph in order that they can organise the new passes. The
renewal of around 5,000 bus passes is being carried out in
alphabetical surname order and the information slips and photograph
should be returned to the Council as quickly as possible.
The new bus passes will be sent out by the
Council during March 2008, ready for use from 1 April 2008.
Councillor Mike Lovell, Social Issues
spokesperson for Purbeck District Council said: “The Council is
pleased that eligible people will be able to travel more easily
both around the District and beyond. However, updating everyone’s
bus pass is a mammoth task and we welcome the support of our
residents to ensure that all new bus passes can be issued in time
for the start of the new scheme.”
