Langton Matravers,
Acton and Lytchett Minster Conservation Areas Public
Consultation
People are urged to contribute their opinions on
boundary proposals and Character Appraisal documents drawn up for
the Langton
Matravers, Acton and Lytchett
Minster Conservation Areas, as part of a district-wide review.
Following a six week period of information
gathering earlier this year, a six week period of public
consultation will take place between Monday 23 June and Friday 1
August, when interested parties can give their views to Purbeck
District Council.
Conservation Areas are designated to cover the
most historically, and architecturally important and interesting
parts of towns and villages. Various factors contribute to
the special character of a conservation area. These include:
the quality of the buildings; the historic layout of roads, paths
and boundaries; boundary treatments and patterns of enclosure;
characteristic building and paving materials; uses and
associations; the quality of the public realm and the contribution
made by trees and green spaces. A strong “sense of place” is
often associated with Conservation Areas.
Cllr Paul Johns, Built Environment
Spokesperson for Purbeck District Council says: “The consultation
gives everyone the chance to contribute to the future of their
local area. This is a great opportunity to play a part in
ensuring the future preservation and enhancement of our historic
towns and villages. It ensures that our conservation area
designations are fit for purpose and that planning decisions are
well informed.”
Information will be posted to all property
owners affected by boundary proposals.
