Purbeck District Council to
debate future of development contributions
Members of Purbeck District Council will be debating the
future of the Transport Infrastructure Development Contribution
Policy at a public meeting on Monday 18 May.
The Policy requires contributions from all
development towards improving the transport network in
Purbeck. Such improvements would help to reduce congestion on
the A351 through Sandford by improving the Bakers Arms roundabout;
improving the A35; providing a Bere Regis southern bypass;
improving the C6 from Bere Regis to Wool and providing a Wool
bypass.
However, it has been agreed that, whilst
building a single bedroom has the potential to contribute to
traffic congestion in Purbeck, some people struggle financially
when extending their homes.
Mark Sturgess, Head of Planning Services at
Purbeck District Council, said: “This review will give
everyone the opportunity to have a say. The Council is taking
people’s concerns seriously about the transport infrastructure
development contributions and we will carry out a full and
comprehensive review based on all available information.
“Although the current council policy has been
supported by inspectors at individual appeals that have taken place
since the policy was introduced, the meeting on 18 May will allow
for a further wide-ranging review of the policy”.
The meeting takes place in Purbeck District
Council’s Council Chamber commencing at 7pm and local MPs, parish
councils and members of the public are encouraged to
participate.
