Help the Council form its new Development Guidelines
Purbeck residents are to get the opportunity to help
form Purbeck District Council’s new guidelines to help the Council
make decisions on planning applications with a new
Consultation.
These guidelines will be included in a
document called the “Core Strategy”, part of the Purbeck Local Development Framework which
sets out broad strategic policies for development in the
District.
The Core Strategy was subjected to
consultation at the end of 2006. However emerging guidance from
central government has given the Council much more flexibility on
the content of the Core Strategy. We have been advised that we
should incorporate some more detailed development control policies
within the Core Strategy to make the planning process quicker and
more streamlined. In order to get the public’s input into
these policies, we have put together a series of questions for
Consultation in the form of an “Issues and Options paper for
Detailed Development Control Policies”.
A Detailed Development Control Policy provides
guidance to be taken into consideration when making decisions on
planning applications. In many cases, national guidance, regional
guidance, Purbeck’s broad policies and other evidence will be
sufficient. But where it is not, we need to produce these
additional policies to “fill the gaps”.
The period for formal consultation commences
on 2 June 2008 and will run for a period of six weeks, closing on
14 July 2008.
