A large tip of rubbish has been found in Randalls Hill,
near Lytchett Matravers.
Amongst the pile of builders waste, empty paint pots and
electrical wire were the remains of what looked like a model pirate
ship.
Although no evidence was found within the dump to suggest where
it may have come from, there was a name plate for the model ship
hand-written with the words “Forget me not”. It is hoped that
someone will recognise this distinctive item.
Councillor Martyn Colvey, Built Environment Spokesperson, said:
“It is possible that the person who built the model ship is unaware
that it was dumped illegally. In these cases most people are
prepared to provide information that would help the Council in
their search for the person responsible for the fly tipping.
“Purbeck District Council takes fly tipping very seriously. Not
only is it a criminal offence, carrying a maximum fine of £50,000
and/or 5 years in prison, it is a blight on our landscape.”
If you recognise any of this waste or have information regarding
this or any other fly tip please contact Purbeck District Council
(in confidence) on 01929 557 389.
Each year local authorities in England and Wales spend an
estimated 76 Million Pounds clearing up illegally dumped waste (fly
tipping), about £101,972 just in Dorset, or 25p for every man woman
and child in the County.
