Kids can nurture their creative sides this summer
holidays and learn something new at the Burngate Stone Carving
Centre.
The Purbeck Keystone Project is offering a
chance for children to hear aboriginal tales which will inspire
them to create their own aboriginal artwork and dreamtime
stories.
It’s also holding a workshop where children
can learn about the ancient Egyptians and carve their own
hieroglyphs into stone.
Aboriginal Art takes place on Friday 21
August, 10.00am until 12.00pm and the Magic of Egypt takes place on
Monday 24 August, 9.30am until 12.30pm. The workshops cost £2
each per person and are open to children aged 7 to 11 years.
It’s dress for mess.
Councillor Andrew Starr, Natural Environment
Spokesperson, said: “These workshops will give magical mornings of
story telling and the opportunity to make some fascinating carvings
using Purbeck stone. The stone carving centre, which
overlooks the coast is a truly inspirational venue”.
The Burngate Stone Carving Centre is situated
on Kingston Road, Langton Matravers, Swanage, BH19 3BE.
Both workshops should be booked in advance to
avoid disappointment.
