Purbeck District Council to provide
Jobcentre Plus facilities
Purbeck District Council has teamed up with Jobcentre
Plus in Wareham to help local people looking for work and local
employers, when the Jobcentre Plus offices close at the end of
March 2008.
The Council will be providing facilities and
information services for jobseekers at the Council offices
reception in Worgret Road, Wareham. These will include a free
Customer Access telephone and computer kiosk linked to the
Jobcentre website, providing information about job vacancies.
The telephone will enable free phone calls about benefits claims,
job vacancies and National Insurance enquiries. The Council is also
hoping to provide a computer kiosk at the nearby Purbeck Sports
Centre.
Purbeck District Council will also support the
Jobcentre Plus Advisory Outreach service by allowing use of an
interview room. This will enable local meetings with a
Jobcentre Plus adviser for customers who are unable to visit the
Poole Jobcentre Plus office.
Cllr Gary Suttle, Local Economy Spokesperson,
said “Purbeck District Council is naturally disappointed at the
loss of this important facility, particularly for those living in
the many rural areas of Purbeck. However, I am pleased that
we have been able to work with Jobcentre Plus in order to provide
this vital service at the Council offices in Wareham.”
Full time Jobcentre Plus offices will continue
to be provided in Poole and Bournemouth.
