Free Jurassic Coast Talk at the
Mowlem Theatre, Swanage on Wednesday 3 October
WHAT IS THE JURASSIC COAST?
FREE Talk at the Mowlem Theatre,
SWANAGE
Wednesday, 3rd
October
2pm – 4.15pm
In December 2001, 95 miles of the East Devon
and Dorset coastline were awarded World Heritage Site status,
ranking the Jurassic Coast alongside the Grand Canyon and the Great
Barrier Reef as one of the natural wonders of the world.
World Heritage Status was achieved because of the site’s unique
insight into the Earth Sciences as it clearly depicts a geological
‘walk through time’ spanning the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous
periods.
The free talk at the Mowlem Theatre, entitled
'What Is The Jurassic Coast?', will give people the chance to
discover just what the Jurassic Coast is all about and why it is so
important. They will hear directly from the Jurassic Coast
team, Richard Edmonds, Jurassic Coast Earth
Science Manager and Dr Anjana Khatwa, Jurassic
Coast Education Coordinator.
This is a truly unique chance to dip into the
past and find out more about what makes the local Dorset coast so
beautiful and dramatic.

informative and friendly and a great opportunity to meet like
minded people and discuss new initiatives.”
