Purbeck District Council Elections 2008 - Results announced

Just under 45% of Purbeck voters turned out to vote in this year’s local elections, with the following district councillors appointed:

Lytchett Matravers                             Martyn Colvey (Liberal Democrat)

Lytchett Minster & Upton East          Wendy Starr (Liberal Democrat)  

Lytchett Minster & Upton West         Paul Johns (Conservative)

St. Martin                                            Beryl Ezzard (Liberal Democrat)

Swanage North                                 Gloria Marsh (Conservative)

Swanage South                                 Alison Patrick (Conservative)

Wareham                                           Keith Critchley (Liberal Democrat)

Wool                                                   Graham Holmes (Liberal Democrat)

David Cross, Conservative, won the by-election for the Lytchett Matravers ward, following the resignation of Michael Peacock earlier this year.

There is no overall control of the Council, with the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats having 11 seats apiece and the Independents having 2.
