Providing a Sanctuary for Victims of
Domestic Violence in Purbeck
On Tuesday 18 September the Purbeck Sanctuary Scheme was
launched.

The Purbeck Sanctuary scheme is part of the
Dorset Sanctuary scheme and is designed to enable victims of
domestic violence and their families stay in their own homes by
creating a safe room, or sanctuary, within the home.
Homes that have these safe rooms with security
systems installed are flagged on police computers to ensure a swift
response if an incident occurs.
The scheme is voluntary and is free of charge
to victims of domestic violence who live in Purbeck with the
funding provided by the Council.
The Scheme has been developed in partnership
with the Dorset Police, Dorset Fire and Rescue Services, domestic
violence service providers and the Dorset County Council's Domestic
Violence Strategic Co-ordinator.
All enquiries, from either agencies or from
the victims themselves would be to Purbeck District Council on
01929 557310.
Information leaflets will also be sent out to
all relevant organisations and will be available in doctors’
surgeries, citizens’ advice bureaux and libraries as well as the
website.
