Planning Applications & Appeals

One of the principle functions of the Council is to determine planning applications.  This enables the control of development activity, in accordance with the adopted planning policy framework and the statutory requirements of the planning and building control system.  This will ensure that new development takes place in a sustainable manner, fulfilling environmental , social and economic objectives, ensures the health and safety of people in and around buildings and maintains and improves the quality of our countryside, towns and villages.

The Development Control team processes and administers planning and other types of development applications including applications for listed building consent, conservation area consent and advertisement consent, and responds to appeals made against the planning decisions of the Council.
