Crime and Disorder Reduction
Crime &
Disorder Reduction Partnerships
The Eastern Crime and Disorder Reduction
Partnership (ECDRP) covers four district/borough council areas:
Christchurch, East Dorset, North Dorset and Purbeck. The close
working relationships between the four councils and other key
agencies working across the area led to the formation of this
partnership. ECDRP works closely with the Western Crime and
Disorder Reduction Partnership, covering West Dorset and Weymouth
and Portland, having identified priorities common to both.
ECDRP has representation from a number of
organisations, including Dorset Police, Dorset Fire and
Rescue, Police and Fire Authorities, local authorities, Primary
Care Trust and Probation. These organisations are working together
to address crime issues across eastern Dorset.
The partnership also works closely with other
public, private and voluntary organisations, which all have a part
to play in reducing crime. By supporting one
another it aims to provide a coordinated approach to
reducing crime and ensuring the best use of resources.
ECDRP recognises that the issues that
most affect communities are common across the whole of Dorset and
so, working with the Western Partnership, a Community Safety Plan
has been produced for Dorset.
The Community Safety Plan for Dorset 2008-11 identifies seven
priorities for action. It is against these that crime and
anti-social behaviour in our local communities is monitored.
To reduce violent crime, with a particular
focus on alcohol and drug - related crime
To protect people known to be at
risk
To reduce criminal damage and anti-social
behaviour
To maintain low levels of crime
To work with those at risk of offending
To tackle speeding, road safety and
anti-social behaviour
To help our communities feel safe
