Parts of the Purbeck countryside have been mapped as open access land to enable you to enjoy activities such as walking, bird watching and picnicking. Look out for the new access symbol (shown left).

To find out where open access land is, have a look at the newest edition of Ordnance Survey Explorer maps (external link).

Alternatively, to view the maps online and for further information on new access rights, visit the Natural England website.

To find out where to walk your dog in our countryside visit the dog friendly sites page.

To fully enjoy your visit and help protect the Purbeck countryside for everyone, please follow the Countryside Code (external link):

  • Be safe - plan ahead, follow any signs and keep to public footpaths
  • Leave gates and property as you find them
  • Protect plants and animals, and take your litter home
  • Keep dogs on a short lead in bird nesting season (1st March to 31st July) and near livestock
  • Consider other people
