Benefits  

Housing Benefit & Council Tax Benefit are national welfare benefits administered by local authorities on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions. The purpose of the scheme is to help people on low incomes pay their rent and Council Tax.
 
People receiving Income Support and Income Based Job Seekers Allowance will still get all their rent and Council Tax paid. Other people on a low income may be able to get part of their rent and Council Tax paid. The scheme is means tested and therefore people applying will have to complete an application form, supply details of their income and savings and provide details of anyone else who lives in their home.
