Some churches of note:

One of the few survivors of the great fire is
St Martins Church, Wareham. Located in the
middle of the north wall, it is believed to be built on the site of
a Roman Temple. It is remarkable in that it is the only Saxon
church in Dorset which survives in anything like its original
state. The original building dates from 1030 AD. As an added bonus
it also houses a magnificent effigy of T.E. Lawrence (Lawrence
of Arabia) who was killed nearby his home at Clouds
Hill in 1935.
T.E. Lawrence's funeral took place at St Nicholas' Church, Moreton
on the afternoon of 21st May 1935 and was conducted by the Rector,
Canon Michael Kinloch. Six pall bearers were chosen to
represent the different aspects of Lawrence’s life.
