Purbeck District Council

Section Title

Public Rights of Way

There is a large network of footpaths and bridleways throughout Purbeck and many of our promoted walks use this network.

Footpaths are waymarked with either yellow arrows or a yellow person walking. Footpaths are to be used by pedestrians only.

Bridleways are waymarked with blue arrows or a blue person riding a horse. Bridleways can be used by pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists.

Byways Open to All Traffic (BOATs) are waymarked with red arrows and can be used by pedestrians, horse riders, cyclists and vehicles. There are only two small sections in Purbeck which are classified as BOATs.
