The Purbeck Way & Purbeck Way West
The Purbeck Way leads down through an
amazing variety of landscapes and habitats from
Wareham to the spectacular
coastline at Chapman's Pool to the south or Ballard Down to the
east via the picture postcard village of
Corfe Castle. If you
do not want to walk the return journey, why not take advantage of
the
Swanage Steam
Railway or
Wilts and Dorset buses (external
link).
The two walks can be combined to explore the whole of
south Purbeck using the South West Coast Path or Wareham to link
the two routes. If you want to take your time to really
explore the area, the walks can easily be split into smaller
sections and
accommodation can be found in each village.
Altogether the walks can take between 5 and 10 days depending
on how much time you want to spend in each village.
Walk leaflets are available for a small charge from
the
Purbeck Information and
Heritage Centre, South Street, Wareham tel: 01929 552740
or you can download a version of the Purbeck Way leaflet for
free below. The Purbeck Way West leaflet is currently unavailable
to download but a new and improved version will be add to the
website soon.
